The Myanmar Consulate General in Chongqing is pleased to notify all Myanmar citizens staying in China that the following consular services are available:

Renewal of Passport
Myanmar citizens holding ordinary Myanmar Passports and their dependents are eligible to apply for a new Passport if their respective passports have only a few blank pages or if the validity period of the passport is less than six months.
Requirements
- Application letter (original & a copy). (Download Form)
- Duly-filled personal biography forms (CV) (The applicants have to put their left and right thumb impressions and specimen signature)
- Three photos with white background (size 35mmx 45mm, please follow the photograph requirements)
- Original Passport (together with a copy of it: copy the photo page, visa pages, last departure date from Yangon and the page mentioning validity date of the passport) Read Photographic Guidelines
- A copy of the last Tax receipt from Consulate (It is required for applicants to pay tax up to the period of December 2011; if the applicant is tax payer.)
- Copies of Passport and Tax receipt of your host (who invited you) (If the applicant is a dependent to a tax payer, the dependent will be regarded as family members/ the closest relative; meaning that either wife or under-aged son/daughter. It is not acceptable that the sister as a dependent to the brother. Only children —sons/daughters— can stay as dependents to their parents. Likewise, legally-married wife/spouse can stay as dependent to her husband/ spouse.)
- A copy of recommendation letter from the Consulate for the receipt of deposit for return trip airfare (if an applicant is a female dependent to a non-Myanmar citizen)
- A copy of valid electronic visa if the visa is not attached to your passport
- Recommendation Letter issued by University/ College/ School concerned mentioning his/ her study course and copies and certified true copy of Student Pass (if applicant is a student; and he/she must has student visa)
- Passport renewal fee (Fee: USD 40) should be paid by Money Order (mentioned the name of *Myanmar Consulate as payee **and the payers name has to be mentioned on the reverse side of the Money Order*).
- A prepaid Return Self-Addressed Envelope/ Satchel with a tracking label must be attached. Express Post Platinum is highly recommended. (NOTE: The applicant’s address MUST be mentioned CLEARLY, unless the Consulate will not take any responsibility if the return letter is lost during postal service process.) (If any damages occurred because of the paper envelope, the Consulate will not take responsibility for it.)
- NOTE: If the passport renewal application is submitted two years after the expiry date of the passport, a FINE of USD 25 will be levied.
- The application will be treated as withdrawn if the applicant fails to submit all documents mentioned-above.
Loss/ Damage of Passport
Attention to those who lost their passports or whose passports get damaged!
This is to notify that new passports will be issued in replacement of the damaged or lost ones only when the Consulate receives an approval of the Passport Issuing Board of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
To apply for a replacement passport, the following are the requirements that the applicants need to submit:
- Personal Cover Letter addressed to the Consul-General , Myanmar Consulate
- Application Form (Download Form)
- Police Report form, mentioning that the passport is lost. (Police Report Number is not acceptable while applying for new passport)
- Personal history forms (CV) (with 3 photos)
- A copy of Valid Electronic Visa
- A copy of first page, visa pages and last endorsement page of your lost passport
- A Copy of receipts of income tax payment (if applicable)
- A copy of Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is a dependent)
- Tax receipt of your host (If the applicant is a dependent)
- Recommendation Letter issued by University/ College/ School concerned and Student ID (Copies and Originals) (if the applicant is a student)
- Three photos with white background (size 35mmx 45mm, please follow the photograph requirements)
- A FINE (USD 145) will be levied for the loss of the passport. Read Guidelines
- The Money Order must be sent for the payment. Total fees for issuing a new passport & Fine for the loss: USD 145.
Passport for A Newborn Baby
NOTE: The Consulate would like to notify that Newborn passport will be issued to the applicant only when the Consulate receives an approval of the Passport Issuing Board of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Requirements
- Application letter addressed to the Consul-General by one of the parents
- A copy of Birth Certificate
- Personal History forms (CV) of the parents and Passport Application form of the baby (Download Form)
- Certified True copy of the Marriage Certificate of parents
- Copies of passports of the both parents
- Tax payment receipts of one of the parents (Copy)
- Please strictly follow the requirements for photograph.
- The Money Order must be sent for the payment. Fees for issuing a new passport: USD 40
- NOTE: If the newborn passport application is submitted/ newborn registration is made one year after the birth date, a FINE will be levied.
Income Tax
Requirements:
1. Calculation for taxation is pursuant to the Notification No. 79/2023 dated 22 November 2023 of the Union Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, calculation for taxation for the period starting from October 2023 is made based on 2% of income. (12 per month)
2. Ring Consulate and get full information regarding the amount before making a payment.
3. Duly-filled CV form (CV form is needed only for those who have to pay tax for the first time but those who paid tax to the Consulate before do not need to submit this CV form) (Download Form)
4. Original and a copy of Passport (Photo page, visa page, pages with departure & arrival seals of the Immigration counter)
5. A copy of tax payment receipt of the latest payment for income tax.
6. A copy of degree certificate from University (the applicant must be a full-time student and it is necessary to submit as a proof of being a full-time student.)
7. If the applicant has finished his/her university studies, he/she will be regarded as an employed person/ employee and thus it is required to pay tax for the period mentioned-above. (only if applicable)
8. A prepaid Return Self-Addressed Envelope/ Satchel with a tracking label must be attached. (NOTE: The applicant’s address MUST be mentioned CLEARLY, unless the Consulate will not take any responsibility if the return letter is lost during postal service process.) (If any damages occurred because of the paper envelope, the Consulate will not take responsibility for it.)
9. ALL TAX PAYERS are strongly urged to retain the tax payment receipt issued by this Consulate or any other Myanmar Consulate for future reference.

Recommendation Letter for Being Student
Requirements:
- Application Form/ Cover Letter
- Student ID Card (Copy and original) (If the applicant finished the study for any degree/diploma, a relevant certificate is required to submit.)
- Recommendation Letter issued by University/ College/ School concerned and Student Pass (Copies and Originals)
- Original and a copy of the Passport (Photo page and the page mentioning the date of validity of passport)
- Fees for issuing a Recommendation Letter: USD 15
- A prepaid Return Self-Addressed Envelope/ Satchel with a tracking label must be attached.
- (NOTE: The applicant’s address MUST be mentioned CLEARLY, unless the Consulate will not take any responsibility if the return letter is lost during postal service process.) (If any damages occurred because of the paper envelope, the Consulate will not take responsibility for it.)
Recommendation Letter for Being Department
Requirements:
- Application Form/ Cover Letter of the person
- A copy of Passport (Photo page and the page mentioning the date of validity of passport)
- Tax payment receipt of his/her host (either applicant’s spouse’s or parents’)
- A copy of airfare deposit receipt from the Consulate/ previous embassy’s recommendation for being dependent (if her husband is not a Myanmar citizen)
- Charges for issuing a Recommendation Letter: USD 20

Recommendation for Letter for Being Unemployed
Requirements:
- Application Form
- Original and a copy of Passport (Photo page, visa page and validity page)
- It is necessary to submit the Letter of China Visa of Short Stay.
- Charges for issuing a Recommendation Letter: USD 20
- A prepaid Return Self-Addressed Envelope/ Satchel with a tracking label must be attached.

Airfare Deposit
It is necessary for a female citizen, who is married to a foreigner and is not working, to deposit an air ticket fare for her return trip to an account of the Consulate. This arrangement is for the interest of this person who deposits the air ticket fare. There are conditions for this deposit: she can draw that money deposited after divorcement or renouncement of Myanmar citizenship or returning home for good with a valid reason. (In such cases, she must return the original acknowledgement letter/ receipt from the Consulate for the deposit she paid in).
Requirements:

- A copy of Passport (Photo page and validity page)
- Certified True copy of Marriage Certificate
- A copy of the Passport of spouse
- The deposit amount is Yuan 3500 (Yuan Three Thousand and Five hundred)
- The payment must be made by Money Order mentioning the name of “Myanmar Consulate” as payee and the name of the payer must be mentioned on the reverse side of the Money Order.
- A prepaid Return Self-Addressed Envelope/ Satchel with a tracking label must be attached.

Invitation to Monks
Requirements:
- Application Form
- Copy of Passport of an applicant
- Copy of Passport of venerable
- Photo of Buddhist monk ID Card
- FEES: USD 20

Attestation
Consulate is issuing recommendations in accordance with the needs and interest of Myanmar Citizens abroad. Make a call to consulate and get full information regarding the required recommendation letter.
Requirements:
- Application Form/ Cover Letter
- Biographical data-CV (can be downloaded from General Guidelines and Forms)
- Passport
- It is necessary to submit the copy of the tax payment receipt.
- Firstly, a notarial translation has to be certified by a notary public lawyer and the document must be endorsed by an authorized official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- An applicant who intends to give General Power or Special Power to someone else has to come to the Consulate in person with his/her original passport.
- If the applicant lives in a far-away place and is unable to turn up, the applicant MUST send an original passport & original ID card together with a forwarding letter mentioning that he/she could not be able to come to the Consulate in person due to a concrete reason. (Not for GP/SP applicants)
- The witnesses mentioned in the document must be a police officer from the respective region and a Notary Public or a Justice or an official of a family doctor (who has his/her own official seal). The witnesses have to sign and stamp their seals.
- In such cases, it is necessary for the person (the applicant) who wants to authorize someone for “General Power” has sign the document before the witnesses.
- Then send the signed document for the endorsement. This will be considered case-by-case basis. Thus, the applicants are urged to come to the Consulate in person.
